My Sick Day Routine

For people like myself who often struggle with flu's and colds, it is essential to have a routine to get you up and feeling your absolute best. The first thing I like to do when I wake up is have a nice breakfast, normally I try to stick to a healthy breakfast but when I'm not feeling great its nice to have a treat/pick-me-up like french toast or pancakes, if someone is kind enough to cook them for you.

After breakfast is usually when I try to have a hot shower, the steam opens up my air ways a bit more allowing me to feel a little bit better. The steam combined with a lovely scented shower gel from lush makes me feel like a million dollars. At the moment I'm using their Christmas collection shower gel called "Rose Jam". When I do manage get out of the shower I feel ten times better, even if it is just for a half an hour. After the shower I cleanse and moisturise my face.

If I must venture out into the world I like to tie my hair back into a pony tail or braid, this helps keep the hair off my face until I'm able to go home again. For make-up I try to use a minimal amount which normally consists of some mascara, blusher, concealer and a little bit of bronzer. The blusher and bronzer are my main focus and it puts little bit colour back into my face instead of looking like a ghost. That green colour people turn when their sick is not appealing on anybody. For my lips I just use a clear lip balm because there is nothing worse than being sick and also having dry cracked lips. Am i right?

When I get home I take off all my make up and head straight for bed as I am normally wiped out at this stage. There is nothing better than getting into nice, new, clean bedding so normally when I'm starting to get over my sickness I change it, this also gets rid of all the germs that were previously there.

I try to drink as much water as I can throughout the day as I feel a huge difference in regards my health at the end of the day if I don't drink enough fluids. If I do have the flu or a cold I like to use the softest tissues possible on my nose. I generally gravitate to Kleenex that has some sort of soft balm so I don't look like Rudolf for the whole day.

I hope this is helpful and if you are sick hopefully you begin to feel better soon!
